PHILADELPHIA -– Melker Karlsson scored in overtime, the only goal of the night, as the Sharks beat the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night, 1-0.
Karlsson took a pass from Joonas Donskoi and beat Steve Mason high with 1:15 to go in the extra session as the Sharks remained perfect on their road trip (4-0-0).
Jones improved to 10-5-0, notching his third shutout with 34 saves.
Prior to the winner, the Sharks squandered a power play opportunity that carried over into overtime. Wayne Simmonds was whistled for tripping Matt Nieto with just 19 seconds left in regulation, but San Jose couldn’t solve Mason, who held the line on Patrick Marleau in front of the net with 3:38 left in extra time.
