SAN JOSE – Brent Burns scored early in overtime to lift the Sharks to a 2-1 win over the Coyotes on Tuesday at SAP Center.
The defenseman hammered a one-timer past Mike Smith just 19 seconds into the extra frame for his ninth of the season. The Sharks had one minute and 57 seconds left on a power play to start overtime, on Martin Hanzal’s high stick of Melker Karlsson at 19:57 of the third period.
San Jose finished 4-1 on its five-game homestand, and is 8-3-0 at home overall.
