Erik Karlsson confident Sharks will be stronger after rough 2019-20

It's no secret that Erik Karlsson and the Sharks didn't live up to expectations for the 2019-20 season. Coach Peter DeBoer was fired midseason, and the Sharks stood in last place in the Pacific Division when the NHL season was put on pause due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Karlsson was acquired for a hefty trade package from the Ottawa Senators in 2018 to help push San Jose over the championship hump, but things haven't gone according to plan. Nonetheless, the defenseman is confident his team will come out of this trying season better for it.

"I think that when you go through times like this," Karlsson told NBC Sports' Mike Tirico on "Lunchtalk Live" this week.
