Capitals take 3-0 series lead against Flyers

Alex Ovechkin scored twice, Braden Holtby had 31 saves and the Washington Capitals moved one win from a sweep in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference series with a 6-1 victory over the Flyers in Philadelphia on Monday.

Ovechkin snapped a tie with his 38th postseason goal and Holtby made the lead stand with his third straight sensational effort in the series.

Washington, which had the NHL’s best record this season, scored five power-play goals. That included four in the third period, helping the Capitals take a 3-0 series lead for the first time in franchise history.
