Brown's Sharks career ends as he's claimed by Montreal

Mike Brown’s career with the San Jose Sharks is over.

The Montreal Canadiens claimed the spunky yet offensively impaired fourth line winger on Monday, ahead of their game at SAP Center later.

It’s unclear, yet probably unlikely that Brown, 30, will suit up against his former teammates on Monday night. Brown, who played just twice in the Sharks’ last 14 games, was in the second of a two-year contract carrying a $1.3 million salary cap hit.

He was originally acquired by the Sharks from Edmonton on Oct. 21, 2013, in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2014 draft.
