While things on the ice didn’t go as planned for Brent Burns and the rest of his San Jose Sharks, Burns was great ambassador of the Sharks organization off the ice. On Wednesday night at the 2015 NHL Awards in Las Vegas, Burns was rewarded for his efforts as he received the NHL Foundation Player Award for his service in the community.

According to the NHL, the award is given annually to the player “who applies the core values of (ice) hockey-commitment, perseverance and teamwork-to enrich the lives of people in his community.
