ANAHEIM — Brent Burns scored 3 minutes, 46 seconds into overtime, Martin Jones stopped 34 shots and the Sharks returned from their holiday break with a 3-2 victory over the Ducks 3-2 on Tuesday night.
San Jose improved to 6-1 in overtime or shootouts this season.
Melker Karlsson and Paul Martin also scored for the Sharks, who have won three in a row and seven of their past eight to maintain their lead atop the Pacific Division.
Burns took a pass from Joe Pavelski and made two quick fakes before beating John Gibson for the game-winner.
