Barracuda’s top scorer stays hot in Game 4 win over Gulls

SAN DIEGO — Ryan Carpenter continued his domination of the Calder Cup playoffs, propelling the Barracuda to a 3-1 series lead over the San Diego Gulls with three key forwards sidelined by injuries.

Carpenter, who leads the playoffs in points (13) and goals (7), helped the Barracuda absorb the losses of Marcus Sorensen, Rourke Chartier and Nikita Jevpalovs in Game 4 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on Friday, picking up another goal and an assist in a 4-3 Barracuda win.

The 26-year-old center, who suited up for 11 games with the Sharks this season, also scored the overtime winner in the Barracuda’s Game 5 over the Stockton Heat on May 2 and the game-winning goal in the team’s Game 2 win over the Gulls on May 7.
