As homestand ends, Sharks search for a spark vs. Canadiens

SAN JOSE — Center Logan Couture could usually look to his left wing over the last few years and see the Sharks’ all-time leading scorer in Patrick Marleau.

With the Sharks scoring just four even strength goals in four games, the line combinations so far this season haven’t been as easy to predict.

As Marleau scored three goals in his first five games in Toronto, Couture has already played with a handful of different wingers with the Sharks tied for 27th in the NHL with an average of two goals per game.

Chemistry, particularly among the second, third and fourth lines, has been elusive.
