2016 5th-round pick Wiederer signs ELC

2016 Sharks fifth round pick Manuel Wiederer signed a “standard, entry-level contract” with the team, the Sharks announced today. The contract is for three years, according to CBS Sports.

Wiederer played the previous two seasons in the QMJHL, scoring 117 points in 114 games with Moncton and Rouyn-Noranda. In 29 playoff games across two seasons, Wiederer scored 26 points, including 12 goals in 17 postseason games last year with Moncton.

As General Manager Doug Wilson mentioned in a statement announcing the signing, Wiederer checks a lot of the boxes that the Sharks look for in a prospect:

"Manuel mixes a defensively responsible two-way game with speed and offensive creativity and has proven that he can play with players much older than he is," said Wilson.
