San Jose Earthquakes’ Winterfest attracts thousands of families

SAN JOSE — Snow flurries and Christmas music floated through the chilly air as parents snapped photos of their children playing at the San Jose Earthquakes’ Winterfest on Sunday.

About 4,000 people sauntered into Avaya Stadium, which morphed into a winter wonderland filled with snow, a large inflatable snow globe, ice sculpture, crafts and other holiday activities.

A giant snowman bounce house towered over the children as planes flew in the sky.

Bundled up in a pink jacket, beanie, and gloves, Izabella Cerezo, 6, was throwing snowballs and making snow angels with her friend.

“I like the snow because it’s so fluffy on the ground and I just want to throw it on my face,” said Izabella, a San Jose resident who attended the event with her moms Melissa and Michelle.
