The headline of the day for the San Jose Earthquakes is their trade of Nick Lima to Austin FC for 2021, but the Earthquakes made another trade Sunday, acquiring a 2022 fourth-round MLS SuperDraft pick from the New England Revolution in exchange to the MLS player rights for Jon Bell.
Bell was the Quakes’ draft selection this year in the second round, No. 38 overall, but he was not signed by the club out of UMBC. The defender ultimately joined New England Revolution II in USL League One this year, and the parent club appears set to sign him to an MLS contract.
