RECAP: Earthquakes 3, Oakland Roots SC 2

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes concluded their 2021 preseason with a 3-2 victory over Oakland Roots SC at PayPal Park on Friday morning.

Oakland would take the lead in the 40th minute through a penalty kick by Johnny Rodriguez. The Roots would then extend their lead in the 59th minute after a low shot by Yohannes Harish.

San Jose would respond with a goal from distance by Eduardo Lopez in the 75th minute, beating the keeper at the near post. Just two minutes later, the Quakes would tie the match after a cross by Luciano Abecasis found Carlos Fierro for the tap-in.
