European soccer juggernauts Real Madrid and Manchester United are set to play this summer at Levi’s Stadium in the International Champions Cup.
The exhibition competition comes to Santa Clara on Sunday, July 23, and will be aired on ESPN.
That means the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, the reigning FIFA player of the year, and English legend Wayne Rooney will make Bay Area appearances.
“The Bay Area continues to draw world-class soccer events,” Earthquakes president Dave Kaval said in a statement. “With major clubs such as Manchester United returning year after year, it is a testament to the passionate fan base and the top-notch facilities we can provide.
