Quakes show resilience at home in draw with Seattle

SAN JOSE — Although they were just a few minutes away from dropping a third straight match, the Earthquakes managed to battle back for a 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday night to remain unbeaten at Avaya Stadium.

Dating back to last season, the Quakes have not lost at home in five consecutive matches, going 3-0-2 over that span.

That home streak was put in jeopardy after a Clint Dempsey free kick into the wall of Quakes defenders ricocheted back to Nicolas Lodeiro, who blasted a shot in the 84th minute that found the back of the left side of the net.
