The San Jose Earthquakes’ pursuit of an MLS playoff berth and their season ended Sunday in a 3-1 loss at Portland.
The Quakes finish the season eighth in the Western Conference. Only the top seven teams advance.
San Jose star Chris Wondolowski scored late in the first half to send the game into halftime tied 1-1. But the Timbers scored twice in the second half to secure their spot in the MLS playoffs.
