Quakes play New York City FC to 0-0 draw

SAN JOSE -- The Earthquakes and New York City FC managed to play to a scoreless draw on Friday night in a game that was expected to feature goals aplenty.

NYCFC came into the game leading the league in goals scored and goals allowed at 40 a piece. They got off to a quick start as Andrea Pirlo and Co. made a beautiful display of ball movement look effortless.World-class strikers Frank Lampard and David Villa had San Jose's defense on edge in the opening 10 minutes as both came close to giving their team an early lead. Villa had an attack inside the box get snuffed out by Victor Bernardez in the 2nd minute, and a Lampard header off a perfect setup from Jack Harrison in the 10th minute just missed over the post.
