SAN JOSE — MLS All-star goalkeeper David Bingham has been traded to the rival Los Angeles Galaxy for as much as $250,000 in allocation money, the Earthquakes announced Monday.

The trade was not surprising after the team and former Cal star failed to agree on terms of a new contract during negotiations this past season. Bingham, a 2016 Major League Soccer all-star, lost his starting position to Andrew Tarbell over the summer.

It also wasn’t a surprise for the Castro Valley native to land in Los Angeles, where coach Dominic Kinnear is an assistant after the Quakes fired him in June.
