Latest devastating loss for Earthquakes hits Wondolowski hard

SAN JOSE – Chris Wondolowski thought the San Jose Earthquakes had already hit rock bottom. He was wrong.

The Earthquakes continued their demoralizing season by finding a new way to lose Saturday, allowing three goals in nine minutes midway through the second half in a 3-2 loss to Vancouver at Avaya Stadium.

“Devastating,” Wondolowski said. “I don’t think words can quite describe it right now. Just a gut punch. We played so well for so long, and then 15 minutes of just complete letdowns.”

Kei Kamara scored the winner in the 68th minute for the Whitecaps (10-9-7, 37 points), extending San Jose’s franchise-record home winless streak to 11 games.
