Late Wondolowski goal leads to Earthquakes’ 1-1 tie against Seattle

SAN JOSE — The Major League Soccer season has started looking eerily similar to last year’s train wreck as the Earthquakes stepped onto the field Saturday night for a Western Conference showdown against Seattle Sounders FC.

After opening with two victories — like they did in 2016 — the Quakes returned to Avaya Stadium with a two-game losing streak and in need to a booster shot.

They got one in a big way in front of a sellout crowd of 18,000 in the waning moments of a dramatic game. Star Chris Wondolowski buried a cross from Marco Urena in the 90th minute as San Jose (2-2-1) remained unbeaten at home by salvaging a 1-1 draw.
