New U.S. coach Bruce Arena has a simple goal for the Americans’ World Cup qualifier March 24 at Avaya Stadium.
Defeat Honduras.
“We have to win games right now,” he said Thursday in a teleconference with reporters. “That’s the biggest improvement.”
Arena, who replaced the ousted Jurgen Klinsmann in December, plans to invite 25 players to a March camp in San Jose to begin reasserting the United States’ soccer program. The Americans have a showdown at Panama four days after playing host to Honduras as they try to advance to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
