SAN JOSE, Calif. – High school senior Chelsea Vuong who has been accepted to Harvard and Stanford, has been selected by the San Jose Earthquakes to become their latest Bay Area All Star Scholarship Team (BAASST) member.
Vuong, who studies at Armijo High, Fairfield, was presented with a check for $5,000 in a surprise visit from Quakes mascot Q, who dropped in on her sixth period biology class to give her the good news.
Vuong, 18, has battled through adversity, including her father’s diagnosis with a brain tumor on the right side of his brain two years ago, to achieve a GPA of 4.
