SANDY, Utah — Once again, San Jose’s efforts to reverse its road struggles sputtered and fell flat.

The Earthquakes fell to Real Salt Lake 4-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium on Wednesday night. It marked their sixth consecutive loss away from home in MLS regular-season play. For San Jose, the loss also ended a five game unbeaten streak against RSL dating back to 2015.

Things took a turn for the worse when Aníbal Godoy got sent off with his second yellow card in the 61st minute. Down a midfielder, the Earthquakes (9-11-6) could not withstand Salt Lake’s relentless attack in its half of the field over the final 30 minutes.
