SAN JOSE -- The Earthquakes have given up on designated player Matias Perez Garcia, sending the Argentine midfielder to Orlando City SC for El Salvador's national team captain, the club announced Wednesday.
San Jose (6-6-9) made its second trade within a week to try to salvage a season that has them eighth in the 10-team Western Conference heading into a game Friday at Avaya Stadium against New York City FC.The Quakes say they bolstered their midfield with the addition of Darwin Ceren, 26, a regular starter for Orlando City since the expansion team began last year.But even as the FIFA transfer window closed Wednesday night the team is looking to add another forward through free agency.
