Earthquakes face Houston with more lineup changes

SAN JOSE -- Coach Dominic Kinnear was so confident he had a healthy squad last week that he loaned two Earthquakes to minor-league teams for game experience.

Then reality hit.

  • Forward Innocent collided with goalkeeper David Bingham in practice and suffered a right ankle strain.
  • Defender Andres Imperiale had a misstep on the practice field to inflame a right toe.
  • Midfielder Fatai Alashe left Philadelphia a week ago with a sore right hamstring that didn't improve.Kinnear recalled rookie Kip Colvey and Matheus Silva, 19, from weekend games in Sacramento and Arizona in what could be described as emergency measures.
