SAN JOSE — Nothing conjures up the word “dirty” in the minds of MLS fans more than the name Steven Lenhart, who hasn’t appeared for the Earthquakes since 2014.
But the Lenhart-less Quakes continue to fight the image of being one of Major League Soccer’s dirtiest teams, as exemplified by a recent blog from a Seattle Sounders FC fan. The writer was prompted to investigate the issue after a 1-1 draw in San Jose last weekend in which the Earthquakes committed 18 fouls to the Sounders’ six.
The blogger determined that Orlando SC is the league’s dirtiest team — or, more precisely, most apt to foul.
