Earthquakes and MLS get ready to resume play after labor agreement

The Earthquakes and the rest of Major League Soccer are going to have a 2020 season after all.

The league’s players union Wednesday ratified a new collective bargaining agreement through the 2025 season to end the potential of a lockout.

The 26-team league is expected to resume its season in July with a tournament in Orlando that officials have said would follow a strict safety protocol for players and staff. While some players have been able to practice individually at team facilities the Earthquakes have had to follow tighter restrictions by Santa Clara County public health officials in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
