Earthquakes add to their defense in MLS draft

The Earthquakes added some depth to their defense in Friday’s MLS college draft.

After trading away midfielder Darwin Ceren to the Houston Dynamo for allocation money a couple of hours before, the Quakes selected Paul Marie, a defender out of Florida International University.

Marie fits a need for the Quakes at right fullback. With Nick Lima having turned in a strong rookie season, showing he is capable of handling either fullback spot, Marie presents good depth at the position as a back that can stretch the field.
