Chris Wondolowski’s big night does in Portland

SAN JOSE — Something about the Portland Timbers brings out the best in Chris Wondolowski.

But the Earthquakes captain did something special Saturday night at Avaya Stadium even for him.

The Danville native had two goals an assist en route to San Jose’s best performance of the Major League Soccer season — a 3-0 victory to remain undefeated at home.

Wondolowski became the league’s all-time scoring leader against the Timbers with 10 goals in 13 career games. The U.S. international now has four goals and five assists in what shaping into a promising season.

“There is no rhyme or reason why I’m getting these assists,” he said.
