Chris Wondolowski, Earthquakes agree to 2-year contract extension

SAN JOSE -- Chris Wondolowski plans to stay in San Jose as he continues his pursuit of Major League Soccer's all-time scoring record.

The Danville native agreed to a two-year contract extension with an option for a third season, the Earthquakes announced Friday. The deal will keep the team's most prolific scorer in history in San Jose through at least his 35th birthday.General manager John Doyle usually doesn't agree to multiple-year contracts for aging players, but Wondolowski is otherworldly in his devotion to the game. The De La Salle alumnus played 90 minutes and scored twice Wednesday in the Quakes' 2-1 exhibition victory over Spain's Real Sociedad.
