Bay Area soccer fans don't hold back passion

SAN JOSE -- Playing for famously popular Arsenal FC allows forward Chuba Akpom to see legions of nutty fans on a daily basis.

So kudos, San Jose, for going berserk on a world-class level."I thought America was all about basketball," Akpom said after scoring a late goal to lead Arsenal to a 2-1 victory over the MLS All-Stars at Avaya Stadium."But now, today, I've seen all the Arsenal and MLS fans from here and they really know their stuff. They were chanting throughout. They're really passionate about football here and it's nice to see."This was, in theory, a home game for the MLS stars, in part because of a roster that featured Earthquakes such as Chris Wondolowski, goalie David Bingham and coach Dominic Kinnear.
