SAN FRANCISCO — If you turn on NBC or NBC Sports Bay Area on Thursday evening, you won’t find the San Francisco Giants.
The Giants’ series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies will instead be broadcast exclusively on YouTube at YouTube.com/MLB.
Thursday’s game at Oracle Park is the fifth MLB Game of the Week Live on YouTube broadcast this season and the first featuring the Giants. A year after MLB experimented with airing games live on Facebook, the league agreed to a deal with YouTube to carry 13 games this season.
No cable network will carry Thursday’s game featuring a matchup between Giants ace Madison Bumgarner and Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola, but the game will still be available on the radio on KNBR 680.
