Tyler Beede to undergo Tommy John surgery

The bad news just got worse for San Francisco Giants right-handed pitcher Tyler Beede. Roughly two weeks after Beede sprained his UCL in a Spring Training game, Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi announced that Beede will undergo Tommy John surgery.

The surgery is scheduled for Friday in Dallas, Texas.

After the injury, Beede expressed optimism that surgery would not be required. The hope was that some rehab would have him back and pitching in a few months. But Tommy John surgery effectively ended his 2020 campaign - if there even is a 2020 season - before it even began.
