On Aug. 5, San Francisco Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi went on 95.7 The Game's Damon, Ratto & Kolsky Show and said that top prospect Joey Bart "needed more minor league reps," adding that there was no timeline on a call-up to the majors. On Thursday, the Giants concluded that Bart has since gotten the proper amount of reps while training at an alternate site in Sacramento, and officially called him up to the big leagues.
Bart, 23, was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, a highly touted catcher from Georgia Tech who the Giants envision at the catcher position as well as potentially first base.
