Thursday BP: RIP Joe Altobelli

Hello and happy Thursday.

The San Francisco Giants lost a part of their history on Wednesday, as former manager Joe Altobelli died at the age of 88.

Altobelli managed the Giants for three seasons, from 1977 to 1979. His run at the helm included a memorable 89-win team in 1978 that was led by Vida Blue and Jack Clark, and featured Willie McCovey.

He managed two other clubs as well, and won a World Series leading the Baltimore Orioles. He also had a brief playing career in the 1960s.

Rest in peace, Joe.
