The Giants better be right.
For all of their talk at the end of last season about how they expected to be players in free agency, the Giants again acted like a small-market team this winter. Decent signings and good depth, yes, but nobody who moves the needle for a team that desperately needed it. Carlos Correa would have provided that, but, well … yeah.
The Boston Red Sox were in a similar predicament: a rich, big-market team with seemingly no real direction except cutting costs and staying below the luxury tax line.
