WASHINGTON, D.C.–The Giants aren’t leading the league in many categories, but nearly 40 percent of the way through the season, San Francisco is pacing all of baseball in team batting average.
The Giants’ .265 clip is tied with the Boston Red Sox for the major league lead, and many of the team’s regular starters are hitting well above the team average.
Shortstop Brandon Crawford leads all National League shortstops with a .326 batting average while catcher Buster Posey’s .301 mark is 17 points ahead of the next closest player at his position.
One unit that entered the season with a lengthy list of question marks was the Giants’ outfield, but recently, that group has improved its production and created a “nice problem” for manager Bruce Bochy to deal with.
