The Hall of Fame needs Barry Bonds far more than he needs it

Barry Bonds doesn’t need the Hall of Fame.

That’s not to say that Bonds shouldn’t be in the Hall of Fame. He absolutely should be, and it remains a cosmic joke that he isn’t.

But as the years go by, it’s becoming apparent that Bonds will never be welcomed into Cooperstown. The latest snub came from the Contemporary Baseball Era Players Committee, which decided that Fred McGriff was worthy of induction but the all-time home run leader wasn’t, by reportedly a wide margin.

You can argue the merits of McGriff all you want (and if he’s in, Will Clark should also be in, but that’s another discussion for another day), but he wasn’t near the level of player Bonds was.
