The draft is set to take place at the All-Star Game.

Hello and happy Friday.

According to ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel, the MLB Draft is getting a shakeup for 2021. Instead of being held in June, the draft will be pushed back to July, so that it can take place during the All-Star Game festivities.

The primary reason for the shift seems to be so that teams can better market top draft picks, and so that it can take place after the College World Series.

After the 2020 draft was cut from 40 rounds to just five, it’s expected that the 2021 draft will rebound to somewhere between 20 and 30 rounds.
