SF Giants: MRI shows damage in multiple places of Tyler Beede’s elbow

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Tyler Beede’s chances at earning the fifth spot in the Giants’ starting rotation took a blow Tuesday when he began to feel tightness in his right elbow.

An MRI taken that night showed a flexor strain and UCL sprain in that elbow — an ominous first opinion, to be sure. The Giants will get second opinions this week to determine the severity, but it’s likely he will be shelved for at least a week or two.

Beede, 26, is battling primarily with fellow right-hander Logan Webb for the final spot in the Giants’ rotation.
