For the first time in 21 years, a San Francisco Giants player has hit 30 home runs in a season.
Willy Adames became the first player since Barry Bonds in 2004 to hit the mark on Sunday when he smoked McCade Brown's first pitch of the afternoon deep to center field to open up the scoring against the Colorado Rockies. The decision to make him a leadoff hitter, after spending most of the season batting either second or third, was made just before Sunday's game, the final day of the regular season.
