SAN FRANCISCO — When starter Johnny Cueto walked off the Oracle Park mound following another fine start on Wednesday evening, it was fair to wonder whether the outing could be his last in a Giants uniform.
The 13th-year veteran is pitching far better than his 4.35 ERA indicates and would clearly be an asset to a team looking to upgrade its rotation for 2020 and 2021 postseason runs.
Cueto, however, still has plenty of value for a San Francisco Giants club that’s six games under .500 but doesn’t see view itself as a deadline “seller” just yet.
