SAN FRANCISCO — For the second consecutive season, the San Francisco Giants cut their Opening Day right fielder before the player even recorded a base hit with the team.
The Giants announced Thursday that Joe McCarthy has been designated for assignment to clear a roster spot for Joey Bart, the team’s top prospect who was promoted to make his major league debut against the Angels.
