The last portion of Rafael Devers’ illustrious Boston Red Sox career was marked by a squabble with the team over his defensive positions. Based on his introductory press conference Tuesday, Devers won’t have that issue with the San Francisco Giants.
Andrew Baggarly reported that manager Bob Melvin and team president Buster Posey had private conversations with their new left-handed slugger about taking grounders at first base, and Devers was open to it. At his news conference, Devers said, “This is a new organization. I’m happy to be here.
