Panik's pop backs Blach at Wrigley Field

The Cubs didn't have much of a scouting report on Blach. This was the 10th time this season the Cubs faced a starting pitcher who had not faced any player on their active roster, and Chicago now is 4-6 in those games.

The Giants continued to pepper teams with solo home runs. Brandon Belt smacked a leadoff homer in the fifth and Justin Ruggiano added another to open the eighth, giving the Giants' 18 straight solo homers. It's the first time the Giants have hit three home runs in a game; they are last in the NL with 38 homers.
