We all know that the San Francisco Giants play in a brutal division. Last year the NL West not only had the World Series champions in the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the two teams in the NL who had the best records: the Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. Expand to include the AL, and the division had the best and third-best records in baseball.
And now they’re getting better. According to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Padres — fresh off a 37-23 season — are adding 2018 AL Cy Young winner Blake Snell in a blockbuster trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
