Hello and happy Monday.
The San Francisco Giants were swept over the weekend by the Los Angeles Dodgers, in a frighteningly ugly series. They took the field on Friday in first place in the NL West. When the final out was recorded on Sunday, they were in third place.
It was awful for Giants fans. But did it actually mean anything, beyond a hit in the standings that made you make an icky face as it unfolded?
You could make a case that it was a barometer series and, after banking wins for the first month and a half, the Giants finally had a test — and failed.
