Monday BP: Giants extend qualifying offer to Belt, decline option on Cueto

Good morning, baseball fans!

The San Francisco Giants made some moves yesterday. The biggest news is that they extended a qualifying offer to Brandon Belt, who now has 10 days to accept or decline the $18.4 million offer. With the sudden retirement of Buster Posey last week, Belt has likely moved up on the priority list for the organization. Belt will likely decline the offer, preferring to work out something more long term. Farhan Zaidi has said that talks with Belt’s representatives are ongoing.

Notably not on the list of qualifying offers were Alex Wood and Anthony DeSclafani.
