McGehee happy to be back with Giants

Giants manager Bruce Bochy sounded willing to give McGehee a chance, describing third base as a "day to day issue." Bochy indicated that Matt Duffy remained the primary third baseman, but added that McGehee "will get some starts."

Designated for assignment on May 24 after a season-long slump, McGehee hit .357 with two homers, seven RBIs and a .571 slugging percentage at Triple-A. That contrasted sharply with his .200 average in 35 games as a Giant.

McGehee credited Sacramento hitting coach Andy Skeels for helping him correct some flaws in his swing. McGehee was quick to praise San Francisco hitting coaches Hensley Meulens and Steve Decker, pointing out that Skeels' "fresh pair of eyes" probably made a difference.
