The race for the NL West crown could very well come down to the race for a Cy Young winner on a floundering team.
A Tuesday report from MLB.com's Mark Feinsand revealed that should Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer waive his no-trade clause, the 37-year-old “strongly prefers the West Coast” as far as possible destinations are concerned. Feinsand went on to note three teams of interest that could absolutely use Scherzer: the Giants, Dodgers and Padres.
It remains to be seen if Max Scherzer will be traded, but a source said the pitcher “strongly prefers the West Coast” to waive his no-trade clause.
